How the Obia-Zeu Projects Started (September 2007 - March 2008)My name is Max Ozimek. In September, 2007, I decided to do my 7th grade school science project on solar cooking. I built two cookers out of cardboard and aluminum foil in my front yard in Strongsville, Ohio. I found out that solar cooking helps people in developing countries who walk long distances to collect firewood, especially women who may not always be safe.
Also in 7th grade I was a volunteer at Holy Family Home & Hospice in Parma, Ohio, where I met chaplain Fr. Alexander Inke. Father told me about the challenges of life in his village of Obia-Zeu, Uganda. I was surprised to hear that his mom and other women spend hours walking for to gather firewood and to collect water which isn't always safe to drink.
I told Father about my science project and how it could help. I wrote to Solar Cookers International for advice. I learned more, talked to people, and gave presentations about life in Uganda. It is now 2009 and I've been to Uganda twice - once in 2008 to start the solar project, and again this year to do more solar project work and to establish two libraries of almost 10,000 books in Obia-Zeu. Please visit the other albums at this site for information on life in Obia-Zeu, the solar project and the library project.
A project I am now dreaming about is for a well in Obia-Zeu village. I am looking for support for the project in ideas and funds. For more information please contact me at m.ozimek@sbcglobal.net. Thank you for your interest! |

Obia-Zeu, Uganda, Library Project (August 2, 2009)Thank you to everyone whose efforts helped establish two new libraries in Obia-Zeu, Uganda! With your help, Negrini Secondary School and Zeu Primary School now have nearly 10,000 books on their shelves!
This is the continued story of Max Ozimek, whose 7th grade science project on solar cooking led him to Uganda to start a solar cooking program for the people in Fr. Alexander Inke's village of Obia-Zeu. Max returned home to talk about his experience and engaged a community to get involved, giving presentations at Northeast Ohio schools, churches and other organizations.
We hope you enjoy these pictures - they tell the story of how a community came together to make a dream a reality. For more information, including background, the ongoing solar project, and photos of everyday life in Obia-Zeu village, see www.imageevent.com/uganda.
We are looking forward to work on a new project to provide a well in Obia-Zeu village. Any support in ideas, expertise or funding (in any amount) would be welcome. Our first priority is to fund a geological survey. Please email m.ozimek@sbcglobal.net if you can help. Thank you for taking the time to share our experience! |

Joyful Tidings Counseling Center (January 1, 2011)Written by Fr. Alexander Inke: As I progress in my Graduate M.A Counseling program at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio USA, I have aspiration, reflection and a dream for the future. That dream is starting a private ministry and counseling center that I will name " JOYFUL TIDINGS COUNSELING CENTER (JTCC)".
JTCC will serve and provide healing, therapy and counseling to troubled individuals along with, to families and marriages inorder to help these ...groups find their own Joyful Tidings amidst their brokenheartedness, suffering, pain and captivities of any kind.
Having a dream about something is never too early or too late. This dream is unveiling itself everyday in my life as I reflect about my past experience as a little boy, experience of suffering, Joy, chaplaincy pastoral work with the dying in the Hospice, my practicum with deliquent Juvinile, my internship experience with college students, moreso my constant reflections over the joy that sufferings, personal crosses and pain can bring when faced with courage, hope, faith, trust and living in the moment as opposed to focusing only on the suffering and pain per se. Remember " yesterday is far gone, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a present, that is why we call it a gift" let us therefore live in the moment.
It is my own journey and personal convinction that every human heart and life longs for Joy, peace, Hope and love that are sometimes destroyed by our past environments, family members, friends and transgenerational trauma we found ourselves in. My profession and call is first and foremost ordained Catholic Priest for the Lord and the church of Christ. Secondly, my future profession added to the mentioned is going to be Christian/clinical counselor. With all these I wish to be that Liberator and lead their hearts to Joy and gladness.
My Guiding biblical text and inspiration for this dream is going to be from prophet Isaiah " The spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has annoited me to bring good tidings to the afflicted: He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim Liberty to the Captives; and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. Isaiah 61:1."
By the nature of my call, am Religious missionary therefore the location of this dream will be based on the nature of my missionary work that entails building, forming the church wherever the Lord wants me to serve. However its location will be "Traveling Ministry" that is to say not anchored in one location, but flexible to move about to areas where it is needed.
Please read my aspiration and my dream. As friends give me your critique and feedback so that my dream can be improved and become a true-reality after my graduation as I serve the people of God every where the Lord through my superiors wants me to serve as an African missionary Religious priest. Remember the focus is on the dream "JOYFUL TIDINGS COUNSELING CENTER( JTCC)". send feed back to inkealexander@yahoo.com |
